I've already been to ALP in Liebefeld. Ueli and Hans-Peter - those really are two crazy guys - took me round, and I was very impressed by the work they're doing there. I specially liked their pilot plants and culture production, though found the various items of analytical equipment rather bewildering. I was struck by the enthusiasm of the many creative young people working there. ALP is really keen to use research for practical purposes. Even I was able to implement one or two good Liebefeld developments.

Their home page www.alp.admin.ch is very user-friendly, but unfortunately mostly only available in German or French. But things won't change much as long as the EU refuses to join Switzerland. Check out ALP's Annual Report: www.alp.admin.ch/dokumentation/
